The #1 factor. Copper doesn't have the same price as chipboard. Choose material that fits application and budget.
The larger the part, the higher the price. We calculate the area occupied by the part. If you do nesting, respect minimum requirements.
We add up the length of all segments to estimate machine time. More lines = more time = higher cost.
Each pierce (laser/CNC tool) takes time. 5-6 holes and 2 contours? Marginal. 250 openings on 12"×12"? Major impact — minimize them if looking to reduce price.
